Custom Orthotics

Custom Orthotics

Custom prescription foot orthotics are precision medical devices that are designed to adjust and control the function of the foot and its alignment with the lower leg.

The customized orthotic are intended to correct abnormal or irregular walking patterns by altering the angles at which the foot strikes the ground.

Orthotics are often recommended by a Physiotherapist & physicians for, but not limited to, the following conditions:

  • Pronation (collapsing in)
  • Supination (rolling out)
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Knee/Back Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes

The Process

Your qualified physiotherapist will do a complete biomechanical assessment of your foot followed by taking cast impressions of your individual feet. Your cast and prescription are sent to a professional orthotic laboratory – The Orthotic Group – where your orthotics is made by technicians with appropriate training and qualifications

Material

The orthotics is individually constructed from a mold of your feet. Rigid orthotics is usually made of a firm material such as plastic and are primarily designed to control abnormal motion and for better function. Soft orthotics is constructed of malleable materials that help absorb shock, improve balance, and take pressure off tender spots or problematic areas.
